It was hot and steamy with a cloudbase that never shifted from 3000 ft all day - we launched on a 2 hour Area task into what can only be described as a "soft" day with lots of steamy cu. I started with the French boys again - my team of choice for the comp - they did a fine job going to the first area but I went a little far into it and had a slow patch that scuppered my chances of a good result. I came back in weakening conditions and thought that I had blown it - but discovered that I had only dropped 100 points on the winner and those around me had had a relatively poor time as well so I slipped back to fourth overall but only by a few points.... my luck is still holding ! 3rd place is there for the taking - first and second are a bit of tall order.
The international evening is still going on with lots of stuff to eat and drink - a very nice Chocolate cake from the Brazillians ( made in Hungary ) and a very tasty pancakey thingy from the Polish team.
The organisers did not do them selves any favours by not flying the other 2 classes - the day was good enough, a lot of unhappy competitors.
